Entrance
In a sporadic moment, the arena lights go out and the fans rise in heightened anticipation. An animated AI voice resonates an important announcement.
Silence. The fans are stirring in high anticipation of what comes next. That’s when the introduction of “Plane to Spain” by Basshunter kick starts from the speakers and the gaming techno builds the hype of the fans. Soon a single spotlight shines down on the stage and reveals Jessica Sears wielding her Captain America shield with her right arm and holding her Eternal Tiare in her left hand. The fans cheer with excitement and she beams at them. Embracing their energy, Jessica makes her way towards the ring and tags some of the fans along the way. She circles around the ring, interacting with the audience, and then she jumps onto the ring apron. Once she steps into the ring through the bottom and middle ropes, Jessica crosses the tiare in front of the shield and she yells “Level up!” The fans echo this and cheer her on as she poses for the flash photography. Removing the jacket and the necklace, she hands them-- along with the tiare and the shield-- to a nearby official and she bounces with anticipation for the match to begin.
Fan Interaction
Jessica’s fans are known as “the Nerd Nation” and she enjoys interacting with them. She builds on their energy while she focuses on her opponents. In team situations, she will rally the fans to cheer for her partner(s). Outside of matches, she will take the time to engage her fans, take pictures and sign autographs.
Biography/Upbringing/Influences
The daughter of Franz and Odelia Sears, Jessica and her older brother Zachary spent their early childhood living in Queens, New York. Despite their early sibling rivalry, the tragic event of 9/11 forever changed their familial relationship for many years.
Their entire family moved to Toronto, Canada and lived there for several years, becoming friends with many of their neighbors, including the Pryce family. While Jessica had a gift in photographic memory and endless love for the geek culture, she was constantly targeted by bullies and often suffered from peer pressure. Her brother and their friends would do what they could to protect her, but she was too afraid to learn how to fend for herself. Despite her hardships, she pursued her love of video gaming and wanted to turn pro. Her father would be her ongoing supporter and her biggest fan until he passed away from an ischaemic heart disease on January 10th, 2014.
It was this sense of powerlessness, as well as witnessing the hospitalization of two of her friends, that would trigger Jessica’s fighting desire. She wanted to learn how to defend herself as well as her friends. The one and only Strong Style Saint in Jaime Alejandro would see this burning passion and teach her how to wrestle. Even with Zachary’s objections, Jaime refused to take no for an answer and instead convinced him to give his sister a chance. Her training would come full circle upon her professional debut in September 2014 when she won her debut match in a big way. Though a horrible end of a tag-team match forced her into a coma at the end of December 2014, once Jessica awakened she was determined to try and make her return.
Her brother Zachary would object this decision, but her newfound friend in Ricky Valero encouraged her to make the comeback a reality. He trained her in the schooling of the Valero Fight Club and she was able to officially step back into the ring. Jessica and Ricky would quickly become best friends with a student and teacher chemistry. Unfortunately, her horrible luck with relationships and the negative aftermath have left her emotionally wounded. She believed herself to be “love cursed” and a sense of hopelessness surrounded the poor girl...
Though she was involved in a few different wrestling companies, Jessica would find an intriguing opportunity in EMPIRE Wrestling (EW), the developmental school of the Blazenwing Wrestling Federation (BWF). As she continued to hone her skills, her travels to Indianapolis, Indiana opened her eyes to the newly-opened Indy Pro Wrestling, the same company her brother Zachary made his professional debut in. Inspired by excitement and limitless possibilities, Jessica decided to join the entourage alongside her brother.
Although she did not begin with a very strong match record, a golden opportunity would present itself in the IPW Evolved 3 Tag-Team Battle Royale. Teaming up with Tara Dola, they would be victorious and earn championship matches of their choosing. Jessica challenged the undefeated Jacob Daniels and accomplished the impossible: she dethroned him and became the new IPW Heavyweight Champion! It was a glorious feat, and regardless of the criticism of her peers, it was the great victory that no one could ever take away from her. Sadly, after the bloody end of Redemption, the painful news of her mother’s full diagnosis of ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, would force her and Zachary to be released from IPW and NGW respectively.
Despite the time away, the call of the wrestling ring continued to call out to Jessica. While moving to Queens, New York allowed her to live closer to her mother, it also allowed her to search for a wrestling company with a manageable work schedule within the state of New York. Abiding by her mother’s request to live her life and pursue her love of the industry, her curiosity was peaked by Ty Buchbinder’s creation, SAP (Southern Adirondack Pro) Wrestling.
SAP has since been newly renamed Spirit and Pride Wrestling. So far, not only has Jessica found success in the company, but she has also found a new love in Geki Nitoh. The two of them have developed a relationship and a tag-team, calling themselves Sonkei Senshi (which, in perfect Japanese-to-English translation, means “Soldiers of Respect”). In recent times, professional wrestling has become a priority over gaming. With SAP’s monthly work schedule in the wrestling industry, she’s been given the opportunity to seek out a second company with a biweekly work schedule. Coincidentally, Code Red Wrestling is focused in Bronx, New York, fairly close to her home in Queens. In IPW, she experienced her first-ever championship win in her career. She has the drive, the motivation, and the willpower to become champion again in both SAP and CRW. Game on!
